Designed by Egyptian architect Fouad Tawfik Hafez, the building is a mixture of Ottoman and Mamluk architecture. Completed in 2008 at a reported cost of 31 million pounds, it can accommodate around 3000 worshippers. The imposing building features two 76-meter-long minarets and gleaming domes.
